VPGH launches young adult support group

The Virginia Partnership for Gaming and Health recently launched Reset & Rebuild, a virtual, bi-weekly group for young adults seeking support for gambling-related concerns.

Reset & Rebuild offers a supportive, non-judgmental environment where participants can connect with peers, build coping strategies, and work toward recovery at their own pace. Young adults are empowered to take meaningful steps toward change while feeling supported in a community that understands their experiences.

“We identified a strong need for a space specifically for young adults, as many traditional support groups include a wide range of age groups,” says Shruti Sampath, clinical coordinator for VPGH and one of the group’s facilitators. “This can sometimes make it harder for younger individuals to relate, open up, or feel fully understood.

In a more targeted environment, support seekers find a comfortable space to share their experiences, challenges, and goals while fostering a stronger sense of peer connection. In addition, conversations are more relevant to their life stage, with topics ranging from identity and independence to finances and social influences.

“This group is about creating a space where young adults feel seen, understood, and supported as they navigate their relationship with gambling and work toward rebuilding their lives,” Sampath says.

Register

Reset & Rebuild is held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 12 p.m. on Zoom. While the group does not have a strict age limit, it is intended for individuals who identify with the experiences of young adulthood. Participants are asked to register in advance to ensure you are connected to the appropriate services and supports.

Contact the group’s facilitators, Shruti Sampath and Matt Britt, for more information and to receive the registration link.
